Welcome to the blog for Ms. Aby's World History class!

This blog is for students in Ms. Aby's 10th grade World History class at Jefferson High School in Bloomington, MN. It is for students to post their thoughts on prompts that ask them to reflect on history and how it connects with their views. Students should be respectful & think of this forum as an extension of their classroom. The instructor has the same expectations for classroom discussion & blog posts. These posts will be graded for both their academic merit & for their appropriateness.

Post 5: Islam

Respond to one of the quotes from Muhammad below. Be sure to indicate in your response which quote you are responding to. Please write a minimum of 3 sentences to answer the prompt.
  • 1. Muhammad said, “Know ye that every Muslim is a brother to every other Muslim & that ye are now one brotherhood.” How might this idea have increased the appeal of Islam to conquered people?
  • 2. Muhammad taught that “the ink of the scholar is holier than the blood of the martyr.” What do you think he meant? How might this attitude have contributed to the development of Muslim civilization?
